rework repurpose revalue

a 360 Design philosophy

life in the caribbean was always circular. from the prevalence of hand me downs in a jamaican household to the importance of reclaimed objects in caymanian society.

for us, circularity is an all encompassing way of life.

defining our modus operandi of designing out waste, our circular practice begins with the reworking of end-of-life garments to the repurposing of deadstock materials. it includes designing zero waste patterns and working with at-risk artisans.

we’re building a circular world by reimagining value systems.

  • The Drapework Range is a range of garments that explores the theory of draping through wrapped and tied drape-work, hanging drape-work and squared patterns that drape around the body. The range forms a core part of the design philosophy behind the brand and is one of the theories that underpin the pattern cutting and construction.

The range employs zero waste theories to pattern cutting and explores traditional Caribbean approaches to dress by employing simple gathered and wrapped fabrics, which are knotted and tied to close. This simplified manufacturing ethos makes our garments quicket to construct and easier to disassemble.

The range includes both men’s and women’s tops, bottoms and dresses made from both up-cycled and sustainable fabrics.

  • Using DIY, Deconstruction, Reconstruction and Reworked theories. The Cutwork Range is a range of garments made with up-cycling and re-purposing as circular theories at it’s core. The range includes slashed T-shirts, Re-Worked Jeans and Re-Draped Tailoring.

The range practices circular methods by repurposing garments at the end of their life-cycle. We find a new purpose for vintage and dead garments.

  • The Handwork Range is a range of handcrafted products, which includes a collaboration with Syrian crochet artisans employing ethical design principles.

The range collaborates with the ‘Crochet Community Collective’ (CCC) which is a women’s empowerment and self-reliance initiative developed in 2019 by Syrian refugee-led humanitarian organization MAPs.

CCC preserves traditional craft in a protracted crisis, leveraging creativity as a tool for restoring hope and dignity. The collaboration funds the livelihoods of Syrian and Lebanese artisans with remaining profits supporting MAPs’ refugee education program.

the untitled collection is an ongoing collection of reworked garments.

The collection demonstrates our committment to values of reducing, reusing, repurposing, reworking and revaluing objects that have reached the end of their cycle.
